Quebec Skilled Worker/Professional
Selection Criteria - Financial Autonomy Capability
The evaluation of Skilled Worker/Professional applicants intending to reside
in Montreal or another city in the Province of Quebec is a two stage process.
The Financial Autonomy Capability Factor is one of the nine factors for
which points are awarded during the second stage of the Quebec selection
process. If the single point available under the Financial Autonomy Capability
Factor is not awarded, the application will be automatically refused.
One point is awarded under the Financial Autonomy Capability Factor if
the applicant has sufficient transferable funds to support his or her family
in Quebec for at least three months. The amount of required minimum funds
increases depending upon the size of the applicant's family, and is adjusted
from time to time by the Quebec Government to take into account changes
to the cost of living in Quebec.
Minimum Settlement Funds - Quebec
Depending on changes
to the cost of living in the Province of Quebec, the Quebec Government
constantly updates the minimum amount of settlement funds which a prospective
immigrant intending to reside in Montreal or another city in the province of
Quebec must possess. The following chart represents the current minimum amounts
established by the Quebec Government, which vary depending upon the size of the
family unit and the age of the family members.
